Online Guitar Tuner

Tuning your guitar correctly is the fastest way to make everything you play sound better. Even simple chords can sound “wrong” if one string is a little sharp or flat.

Use the tuner below to tune your guitar using your device microphone. It works on desktop and mobile—no downloads or apps required.
Tip: Tune in a quiet room, pluck one string at a time, and adjust until the note sits in the centre.

How to use this tuner

Click Tap to start. When prompted, click Allow to enable microphone access.

  1. Pluck one string at a time (don’t strum chords).

  2. The tuner will show the closest note—adjust the tuning peg until the needle/indicator sits in the centre.

  3. Repeat for all 6 strings, then do one final quick re-check from low to high.

  4. Standard tuning order (low to high): E – A – D – G – B – E

Standard guitar tuning (E A D G B E)

Here are the standard open-string notes for a 6-string guitar in concert pitch:

Low E (6th string) → E2
A (5th string) → A2
D (4th string) → D3
G (3rd string) → G3
B (2nd string) → B3
High E (1st string) → E4

If you’re using lighter strings or a very new set, tune up slowly and re-check a couple of times—new strings stretch.

Troubleshooting (if the tuner isn’t working)

Microphone permission

If you clicked “Block” by mistake, refresh the page and re-enable microphone access in your browser settings (site permissions).

Too much background noise

Turn off TV/music, move closer to the device microphone, and pluck single notes clearly.

The tuner is jumping between notes

Pluck the string once and let it ring. Don’t hit other strings. If needed, lightly mute the other strings with your picking hand.

Mobile tip

On phones, turning off Low Power Mode (or closing other audio apps) can improve mic detection.
